Jasmine Ellis was born and raised in Dufferin County and has spent her life moving between Dufferin and the world. An award-winning filmmaker and choreographer, she is drawn to the indie, arthouse, and the dance and sport-based genres, directing for stage, shorts, music videos, and commissioned work. She studied at the Etobicoke School of the Arts, the School of Toronto Dance Theatre, and Codarts Rotterdam Conservatory.
Now based in Munich, Germany, she returns to Dufferin often, working out of the dance studio at Wildrose Farm, and is quietly putting down roots here again.
Her work does not sit easily in one category. Film, movement, body language, text, and music are not separate things to her but aspects of a single attention, one in which humour, vulnerability, and familiarity open onto something less expected. She is the Artistic Director of Bad Posture Productions.
