The Shelburne Town Hall Art Gallery will soon open a new chapter in its ongoing celebration of art as landscape painter Brian Blakeman returns for the third installment of his popular exhibition series, Northern Perspectives. The show runs from April 6 to 24 and marks Blakeman’s continued artistic journey into the heart of northern Ontario’s natural beauty.
Blakeman has become a favourite among local gallery-goers. Staff say visitors frequently ask when he will return, reflecting the strong connection his paintings have formed with the community. One repeat visitor said his work “lingers long after you’ve left the gallery,” a sentiment shared by many who have followed his evolution over the past several years.
This year’s exhibit features new works inspired by the Bruce Peninsula and Grey County places Blakeman often visits to observe shifting water patterns, dramatic rock formations, and big sweeping skies. His background in decorative design, combined with decades of international artistic experience, informs his detailed, light-filled landscapes.
