Gathering Light is Headwaters Arts first of MORE than six themed member and group art shows to adorn the walls of the Headwaters Arts Gallery in 2026. January’s show features 14 artists who have created a unique collection of diverse works in a variety of mediums depicting “light”, with a focus on specific subject matter and the experience ones receives from light. Mediums including: oil, watercolour and acrylic paintings, fibre, mixed media, paper sculpture and clay. “During a cold winter day, a ray of light can make you feel much warmer than you actually are. It’s like your brain associates the glow of the light with warmth, and can trick your body to feel it,” says Katie Howatson, painter from Orangeville. Participating member artists include: Bhavna Bhatnagar, Bill Carroll, Claudio Arcuri, David Moir, Deborah McLachlan, Fabienne Good, Janice Gittings, Katia Howatson, Marnie Cooke, Mary Lou Hurley, Natalia Rose, Reg Lecky, Roger E Murray and Victor Gligor.
Gathering Light 2025 runs from January 7, 2026 until February 8, 2026. The Headwaters Gallery is open Wednesday-Sunday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m, Alton Mill Arts Centre, 1402 Queen Street West, Alton, Ontario. Visit www.headwatersarts.org. Be sure to follow us on IG @headwatersarts and Facebook.
