Orangeville Art Group is pleased to announce an Oil Painting Workshop with Barry McCarthy, Canadian Realism Painter
Sat. May 10 & 24 10 – 3:30 pm at Victoria Community Centre, Mono Mills
2 full painting days + 1 day at Barry McCarthy’s Studio in Fergus
Barry McCarthy is an established and well known Canadian contemporary realist painter represented by the Loch Gallery, Toronto and with 3 books of his work published. Barry only teaches 2 workshops a year, usually in watercolour but in this unique opportunity he is offering an Realism OIL painting workshop to OAG members.
2 days of painting Barry will give hourly demonstration of his oil painting techniques and working ‘one on one’ with the participants.
“I will teach you how to paint one of my paintings, step by step, creating your own masterpiece. I will share some design strategies and processes and lecture about ‘what makes a good painting. We will work towards the process which I will explain and why.”
The day will go by quickly. I will cover so much information in this workshop from composition, techniques, including how to sell your work and approach art galleries. I put alot into my teaching. I teach because I wish I had a mentor to help me when I was starting out but limit workshops I give to two a year.”
Barry has done adult workshops for over 30+ years. Several of his students have gone on to become award winning artists.
Day 3 at his Fergus Studio: “At our last meeting, I will critique the finished paintings and we will have the opportunity to view his paintings, studio space, furniture etc.”
If you have any questions about the workshop, please contact: judi@bell.net
The class size is limited.
COST: $280 per person
